Best of Portugal - Tour Specifics

TOUR DATES:  October 1-9, 2026

Cost: The land cost of the tour is $6,989 per person, based on double occupancy. Single rooms are available for a supplementary charge of $1,860.  Airfare is not included.

Accommodations:  8 nights lodging in elegant, historic 4- and 5-star hotels; (4 nights in Lisbon, 2 nights in Porto, and 2 nights in Pinhão-Douro Valley). All rooms have ensuite baths.

Meals: All breakfasts, one full-course meal daily, additional meals as scheduled. All meals - after breakfast! - include regional wines. We carefully choose restaurants based on ambiance and quality of cuisine.

Transfers: All ground transportation after your arrival at the hotel in Lisbon is included. For the departure day, there will be a group shuttle departing Pinhão at 9 AM to Porto airport. If you need to depart at a different time, we can help you book a transfer at an additional cost.

Wine tastings of various Portuguese varieties (including small local producers and larger well-known wineries).

Admissions: Entrance fee for all planned visits to monuments, galleries and museums are included.

Small, Intimate Group: We limit the number of participants to a maximum of 16. We need a minimum of 12 for a tour to run.

Early Arrival/ Late Stay Options: Depending on hotel availability you may be able to arrive early or stay after the end of the tour. We'll be happy to help you make these arrangements. For trip extensions of 2 nights or less, we provide planning assistance on a complimentary basis. For extensions of 3 nights or more, there is a nominal fee of $150 to assist with trip planning including booking hotels, guides, drivers, etc.

Arrival and Departure: The tour begins at our hotel in Lisbon. A taxi from Lisbon airport to the hotel costs approx. €30 and takes about 20 minutes. Or, we can arrange for you to be met by a private driver at additional cost. On the final morning of the tour, we will arrange a group shuttle from Pinhao to Porto Airport (a 90-minute ride). Pick-ups or drop-offs at other locations or times can be arranged for an additional fee.

Gratuities: Gratuities are a personal decision, but we recommend €10 per person for each daily guide and €10-20 per person per day for your Tour Leader. At the hotels, it is nice to leave €2-3 per day for the housekeeping staff and €1-2 per person per day for the breakfast room servers.

Tour Exclusions: Airfare; airport transfer upon arrival; hotel city tax (usually €3-7 per person, per night; payable onsite), and gratuities for your local guides, drivers and tour leaders. Tuscany Tours tips all group bus drivers and at all group meal restaurants.

Due to the ancient architecture of hotels renovated from restored palazzos, each hotel room is unique, and room sizes may vary.

All hotels have air conditioning but in the shoulder seasons, they may not be permitted to use them due to European laws. Please be aware that we cannot ask the hotel to use the air-con if it is against the current regulations in place.

Tuscany Tours reserves the right to make changes to tour venues, tour leaders and guides as circumstances may require.

**Important Note: The terrain of both Lisbon and Porto is famously hilly with steep streets and cobbled pathways, so travelers should be prepared to navigate steep and/or uneven surfaces and walk for at least one hour at a time to comfortably participate in this tour.  If you have mobility issues, please consider a different destination.  The comfort and safety of our travelers is our top priority.  You must be able to put your own luggage on/off the train. While we provide porter service for all hotel movement, porters at the train stations is not included.
